The ideal place for those who want the best of both worlds- the throbbing vitality of a city centre holiday whilst at the same time being able to relax with leisurely strolls along the sea front or in the Borgo - the old part of town - which is just a stone's throw away or in San Giovanni Li Cuti, the fisherman's port in the city centre. We are ideally situated for exploring the rest of this incredible island.
Catania is on the slopes of Mount Etna, visible from everywhere. Further afield, we are just 40 km from Taormina, whilst Siracusa is only 60 km. Acicastello and Acitrezza are 6 km or 10 minutes away- and even Palermo is only 90 minutes by motorway, whilst a whole day excursion to Agrigento is well worth considering. And we haven't even mentioned Piazza Armerina (75 minutes), Ragusa, Modica and Noto.Children will love Etnaland, (16 km) the largest water park in Italy with its marvellous rides, zoo and Dinosaur Park. The more adventurous can enjoy mountain walks on Etna, or even paragliding and adventure sports just 20 minutes away. Archaeological sites, whether prehistoric, Greek or Roman, are dotted everywhere and reflect the island's 3,500 years of human inhabitation.
